Even if you never have played melodies on your guitar before the time has come now! You will learn to play guitar tab and a very popular melody even if you do not know sheet music notation. Pick up your guitar and let’s start!

We will first take a look at the lyrics of the first verse:

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound!

That sav’d a wretch like me!

I once was lost, but now am found

Was blind, but now I see

First you have to learn to play guitar tab notation. Guitar tab or tablature notation is a way of showing how to play notes on your guitar with the help
Easy Guide on How to Write a Song
...the poem. Now if you want a chorus (refrain), choose the most relevant part of the poem and make that your chorus. You can write the chorus separately, or you don t have to have a chorus. But if you ...
of numbers telling you on which fret to play and on which string:

1. ———————-

2. ———————-

3. ———————-

The three lines represent the three first strings on your guitar. The line at the top named 1. represents the first string or E-string on the guitar.

Now you will learn to play your first guitar tab as we try the first line of lyrics together with the guitar tablature notation of the melody:

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound!

1. ————0——-0————————-

2. ——-1——-1——–3—–1————–

3. –0———————————-2—-0–

The numbers you see on the guitar tablature staff tell you which fret to play. The number 0 indicates that you shall play a string without pressing down
Beginner Piano Lesson for Parents - How to Have Fun with Kids in Piano
...only too hard if you think it is.
This is called to play on an open string.

As you can see from this guitar tab notation the first note is on the open third string on your guitar. The next note is on the first fret on the second string.

Time to learn to play the next line of lyrics with the melody on your guitar:

That sav’d a wretch like me!

1. ————–0——-0———0—-3—-

2. ———1——-1———3—————

3. —0—————————————-

You can play the notes with your right hand thumb. It is probably the easiest way to pluck the strings for now.

Let us proceed with the third line of lyrics and guitar tab:

I once was lost, but now am found

11. —0—-3—-0———0————————-

2. ——————–1——–3—-1—————-

3. —————————————–2—-0—-

But its appeal extends well beyond its familiar shape and the songs it plays. Some piano music boxes are simple enough; the ...
are pressing down the guitar frets with your right hand index finger.

If you want to prepare for more difficult guitar melodies you can try to play the notes on the first fret with your index finger, the notes on the second fret with your middle finger and the notes on the third fret with your ring finger.

Now we will learn to play the guitar tab for the last line of lyrics and complete this guitar lesson:

Was blind, but now I see

1. —————0——–0—————

We have now completed this guitar lesson and you have learned to play the melody to Amazing Grace!

After singing on countless sessions including commercials, backup for many an artist and for an array of producers, I have come to the conclusion that while singing in the studio might seem glamorous, it is definitely hard work. Even as a former talent booking agent with the William Morris Agency, I continued and still do, singing in the studio. I have to admit, though, that I absolutely love session work and accomplishing the task at hand no matter how difficult or challenging the particular session might be. Anyone who sings professionally and states otherwise, is either lying, or plain doesn t have enough work or has a bad attitude or both. As founder of ReelMusician.com, I
Learn To Play Guitar Tab - Amazing Grace
...Guitar tab or tablature notation is a way of showing how to play notes on your guitar with the help of numbers telling you on which fret to play and on which string:1. ----------------------2. ----------------------3. ----------------------The three lines represent the ...
have had the opportunity to work with singers and get them geared up and ready to go into commercial singing work and I believe that I have enjoyed that as about as much as session work if not more. Seeing singers who have a dream and want to make it happen, and then help them make it happen is incredibly rewarding. With that, I would like to take a few minutes and discuss the successful studio singer and how you might take your talent and dream and enter the field.

You heard me correct. You take your dream and enter the field as a valid and credible studio singing source for multiple producers and session work. Just
Easy Guide on How to Write a Song
...with the tune. - You have a good tune in your head; start playing it and then try singing different lyrics that come to mind.No matter which one you pick, keep in mind that the lyrics and the tune have ...
how will you go about that? Great question. Let s spend a few minutes looking at some ideas and concepts to get you on the road to success and get you into the studio as a professional studio singer.

Singing talent is obviously at the top of the list, but let s spend a few minutes talking about vocal qualities. There are a number of different types of singers the blender who sings on a variety of session work, but doesn t sing on that many lead spots. Those are usually reserved for more gritty and husky singers who can carry the lead. Then you have the husky or gritty singer who is
Beginner Piano Lesson for Parents - How to Have Fun with Kids in Piano
...find a treasure box filled with piano resources to create an exciting musical adventure for your child - right in your own home! This singer usually sings on quite a few leads that are up in your face commercials and backup vocals that require a big sound. There are also a core of what I call specialty singers who don t fit either just discussed and tend to be very unique and used on very specific spots and background vocals. Neither of the singers I ve just described is any better than the other in terms of work, they are just called on for different session work. Where do you fit in? You need to get that figured out along
A Fine Piano Music Box Is A Work Of Art
...the list of available songs becomes quite long when your piano music box is outfitted with the finest musical movements.A piano music box is something that is sure to bring joy to its owner, and it is equally likely to ...
with your degree of giftedness. Just be honest studio singing isn t for everyone, no matter how much they want it. But I would guess that there is more opportunity out there for a lot of singers if they chose to go after their dream.

In order to attempt to get into studio singing you are going to have to have a few key items in place namely a good deal of practice, an incredible demo, and a follow up with great people skills. Most artistic individuals I know usually have fairly good people skills counting out those who either know it all or those with a bad attitude. I m guessing you
What's so Funny About Peace, Love, and New Age Piano?
...the world really needs this kind of music right now. At ReelMusician.com we specialize in singer s demos and specifically those wishing to enter the jingle singing market. You d be surprised at the demos we receive on a regular basis that are not up to par. I ve stated in other articles, that your demo has to sound like you ve already arrived on the singing scene with numerous credits. It is our experience that most don t have a real clue as to how to write and market their voice to compile a singing demo tape that will actually
Piano Lesson: Learn To Play Jingle Bells Without Piano Sheet Music
...3If you want to use fingerings on your left hand you place your little finger above key number 1 and your thumb on number 5 and the other fingers accordingly. It's time for the last piano tab:In a one-horse open sleigh3 ...
get listened to and if it does, won t garnish the work that they are looking for. There are a number of reasons for this, but in the simplest of terms, there is too much competition out there to be dealing with fairly good or even pretty good demos they have to say the word Incredible.
Once you have your incredible jingle reel in hand, marketing will be key. You will want to submit your reel to jingle producers in your area, various industrial music houses, and general music production companies. He has been helping students learn how to ...
and genuinely get to know them and hand off a reel keeping in mind that you will want to hand off reels to other singers that you are not in direct competition with. Your follow up with these individuals will be key. Stay in touch with email, letters, birthday notes, etc and keep all of your potential singing clients in the fold. Make sure that you have a follow up reel within a short period of time. You will want to cross the desk of certain producers a couple of times to reacquaint yourself to them.

As founder of ReelMusician.com, I
Learn To Play Guitar Tab - Amazing Grace
...finger and the notes on the third fret with your ring finger. Now we will learn to play the guitar tab for the last line of lyrics and complete this guitar lesson:Was blind, but now I see1. ---------------0--------0---------------2. ----------1--------1------- 3----1----3. ----0-----------------------------------We ...
have had the opportunity to work with singers and get them geared up and ready to go into commercial singing work and I believe that I have enjoyed that as about as much as session work if not more.

Once you have your incredible jingle reel in hand, marketing will be key.

There are many ways to compose a piece of music. ABA forms, sonata allegro form, and so on. But the humble theme and variations has been around for centuries. While not used nearly as much as it was during the classical period, it still can be used to create artistic and attractive contemporary piano pieces. Let’s get started!

First, we need a theme! Eight bars are the perfect size to contain your theme. I work within this framework all the time and it has proven to be a workhorse when it comes to capturing musical ideas. Now, we can either begin with chords or melody. For theme and variations, I like to start with the melody (as do most composers.) This
Choosing an Awesome Car Audio System
...Similarly, getting a tiny, entry level audio system and putting it in the spacious interiors of a hummer or any of the SUVs in the market is not a smart idea. However, choosing the perfect car audio system is just half ...
is because it’s a lot easier to create variations for a simple melody than it is to create different textures for chord changes.

The melody does not (and should not) be sophisticated for theme and variations. Why? Because we want to change the melody. It’s a lot easier to vary a simple theme than it is a complex one, although I’m sure it’s been done successfully. Look at Pachobel’s canon as an example. The theme is simple yet beautiful - exactly what we want.

Once the first 8-bars is complete, we harmonize it and we have the complete theme. Now we create variation one. Most theme and variations composed by the “masters” start their initial variations with just a little change and
  The Successful Studio Singer
...up and ready to go into commercial singing work and I believe that I have enjoyed that as about as much as session work if not more.
We don’t have to do this here. In fact, I suggest beginners only create 3 variations at the most. Look at it as an arc. You start out with something, let’s say something andante or slow. Now we want to add some contrast to the whole thing so around variations 2 or 3 we speed it up a little. Eventually we close the theme and variations by returning to the original theme. Take a look at the author’s lesson #54 for a good example of how to do this.

Barring a geographical recreation of Pangaea, those of you who travel to far away destinations likely choose to fly. This may be the quickest route of travel, but it can also be one of the most boring: the in-flight magazines are lousy reading, the alcoholic beverages are costly, and passengers in adjoining seats typically don t want to converse, fearing that they will say the wrong thing and be asked to leave. For all these reasons, the avid travelers among you may often pass the time listening to music. The following is a list of some of the best songs for flying the friendly skies.

Leaving on a Jet Plane by Chantal Kreviazuk- One of the
How to Create a Theme and Variations for Piano!
...it still can be used to create artistic and attractive contemporary piano pieces. Let's get started!First, we need a theme! Eight bars are the perfect size to contain your theme. I work within this framework all the time and it ...
best flying songs of all time, Leaving on a Jet Plane tells the world that your bags are packed and you are ready to go. While this song is covered by several artists, Kreviazuk gets the nod because of the uniqueness and beauty of her version. Plus, including a John Denver version on a list about flying is just flat out bad karma.

Rocket Man by Elton John - So you might not be in an actual rocket, but with a little imagination, and a Bloody Mary or two, you can easily pretend. Elton John s Rocket Man is among his greatest hits, a song that really captures his caliber of talent; no matter how many
Choosing an Awesome Car Audio System
...traffic. Surviving through rush hour traffic is also a lot easier with the help of great music coming from a good car sound system. When a good car audio system is matched with the internal and external specifications of the car ...
time you listen, it s gonna be a long, long time until it gets old.

Rocket Man by Elton John - So you might not be in an actual rocket, but with a little imagination, and a Bloody Mary or two, you can easily pretend.

You don’t need to know guitar sheet music to learn to play guitar melodies. Let’s learn Morning Has Broken with guitar tab!

“Morning Has Broken” is a Christian hymn. Cat Stevens has recorded a popular version of the song.

Here is the first verse:

Morning has broken, like the first morning Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird Praise for the singing, praise for the morning Praise for the springing fresh from the world

As I mentioned we will not use guitar sheet music notation. Many people find it hard to read sheet music on guitar.

In order to learn to play guitar melodies we will use another notation system called tablature.

Tablature or guitar tab is a form of musical notation, often
  Best Songs to Fly By
...list about flying is just flat out bad karma. Rocket Man by Elton John - So you might not be in an actual rocket, but with a little imagination, and a Bloody Mary or two, you can easily pretend. Elton ...
with numbers and letters, which will tell you where to place your fingers on the guitar fretboard in order to play a melody.

In this article I will use a type of guitar tab notation with numbers only. The more common guitar tab staff notation you will find on my site.

Let s take a look at your guitar!

The six strings on your guitar is numbered from the one with the highest pitch. This string is called the first string.

In order for me to tell you how to play the melody on your guitar I will write down which fret to press down with your left hand and which string to play.

If I write 31 it means that you are to press
How to Create a Theme and Variations for Piano!
...(and should not) be sophisticated for theme and variations. Why? Because we want to change the melody. It's a lot easier to vary a simple theme than it is a complex one, although I'm sure it's been done successfully. Look ...
down the third fret on the first string. The first number indicates the fret to press down and the next number the string.

01 means: play the first open string. This means that you play the first string without pressing down a fret.

The first part of Morning Has Broken with guitar tab and lyrics looks like this:

Morning has broken, like the first morning

35 24 03 12 32 02 23 03 23 02 23 03

You will start with the note C here notated 35. That is, press down the third fret on the fift string.

In this type of guitar tab notation you will not have an indication as to the length of the notes. I suggest that you sing the lyrics in
Choosing an Awesome Car Audio System
...not make sense to get a high PMPO, 500 watts car audio system if it can only be housed in the small confine of a Volkswagen beetle. Similarly, getting a tiny, entry level audio system and putting it in the ...
order to feel how the melody is to be played.

Let’s look at the next guitar tab:

Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird

35 04 24 03 23 03 24 35 04

In this guitar lesson we will not deal with how to play the strings with your right hand fingers. I suggest that you play the strings with you right hand thumb or some other way you choose.

The next guitar tab looks like this:

Praise for the singing, praise for the morning

03 24 03 12 23 03 24 35 35 04

What about your left hand? You can play the notes with your index finger but I suggest that you assign the notes on the first fret to your index finger, the notes on
  The Successful Studio Singer
...session work. Where do you fit in? You need to get that figured out along with your degree of giftedness. Just be honest studio singing isn t for everyone, no matter how much they want it. But I would guess ...
the second fret to your middle finger and so on.

It might be a little bit difficult at first but in the long run you will find it easier to play melodies with these left hand fingerings if you are persistent!

Now we will continue with the next and last guitar tab:

Praise for the springing fresh from the world

24 04 24 03 23 04 24 04 35

I promised you that you could learn Morning Has Broken on your guitar without sheet music and now you have accomplished this and I have kept my promise. Congratulations!

It would have been nice to hear you play the melody but I guess it is not possible so play it for a friend!

I suggest that you memorize
Learn To Play Guitar Tab - Amazing Grace
...grace!

Techniques. Some of them are more useful than others. Especially when it comes to piano playing. What you’re about to learn is a special way of forming chords at the keyboard that will have you playing chord piano in no time.

It’s called the open position chord and it’s exactly what its name implies - a chord structure that covers more than 2 octaves of the keyboard and uses both hands right away.

The open position chord (or OPC for short) is not an easy chord position to master at first, but once you get it in your hands, you’ll be well on your way to playing chord piano.

Let’s take a look at how we might go about learning this new technique.
Guitar Lesson: Learn To Play Guitar Tab Solo Morning Has Broken
...indicates the fret to press down and the next number the string.01 means: play the first open string. This means that you play the first string without pressing down a fret. The first part of Morning Has Broken with guitar tab ...
Take a look at my free piano lesson “Reflections in Water.” Here we have 4 open position chords in the Key of C major. You’ll notice the play button along with keyboard diagrams. Listen to the OPC and notice the sound. It’s quite modern isn’t it?

Now take a look at the keyboard diagrams and familiarize yourself with this chord. Once you get a feel for this chord structure you’re left with how to use it. This is the fun part! What I did in the lesson “Reflections in Water” is simply to play the OPC’s and improvise melody using notes from the C Major scale. That’s it! That’s all that’s required to create your own unique music.

You see, learning the
  Best Songs to Fly By
...also be one of the most boring: the in-flight magazines are lousy reading, the alcoholic beverages are costly, and passengers in adjoining seats typically don t want to converse, fearing that they will say the wrong thing and be asked ...
OPC makes it all the easier. Because you have such a wide note spread between your fingers, it allows you to make “more” music so to speak than if you were to use triads or closed position chords.

Even the audio part where I just play the chords is musical. Many of you want to learn how to play piano using chords. I suggest starting with the OPC because it gives you instant satisfaction on the keyboard!

Edward Weiss is a pianist/composer and webmaster of Quiescence Music’s online piano lessons. But the humble theme and variations has been around for centuries. While not used nearly as much as it was during the classical period, it still can be used to create artistic and attractive contemporary piano pieces. Let's get ...
internet.
Let’s take a look at how we might go about learning this new technique.
Guitar Lesson: Learn To Play Guitar Tab Solo Morning Has Broken
...Cat Stevens has recorded a popular version of the song. Here is the first verse:Morning has broken, like the first morning Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird Praise for the singing, praise for the morning Praise for the springing fresh ...

He has been helping students learn how to play piano in the New Age style for over 14 years and works with students in private, in groups, and now over the
How to Create a Theme and Variations for Piano!
...on. But the humble theme and variations has been around for centuries. While not used nearly as much as it was during the classical period, it still can be used to create artistic and attractive contemporary piano pieces. Let's get ...
internet. The days of pure singers are over, and they are now replaced with many different kinds of sounds that are enhanced and created with sophisticated recording equipment.

Even when you go to see a musical act in concert, chances are the singer s voice and/or music in general is prerecorded. Now we have to listen to Kevin Federline, Kelly Osborne, and man-made bands like 98 degrees.
