Piano Solo

In some ways it is harder to learn to sing backup that being a solo singer. When you are singing solo, you do not have to worry about blending in or following someone else, they have to follow you! Not so when you are the second singer or “backup” as it is known. When this is the case, you have to be aware of the main singers phrasing, nuances and even possible mistakes.

Listening

Listening is the most important skill a backup singer has to learn. It is far more important to blend in and not over shadow the main vocal than it is to showcase your own voice. This is not the time for standing out, you are there to enhance,

color and accentuate the main vocal, not to over power it. You will not be asked back if it is felt you are only interested in your self. The best backup singer is one who goes virtually un-noticed. Sometimes people may not even remember that there was a backup singer, this is ok, and you did your job!

Robert Peter Williams also known as Robbie Williams was born on 13th February 1974 in the village Newcastle-under-Lyme. He sold tens of millions of albums worldwide and is one of the best selling artist not only in the UK but also world wide.

Robbie Williams started his career with the very popular boys band Take that (Robbie Williams, Mark Owen, Jason Orange, Howard Donald and Gary Barlow). They had several number one hits such as back for good . In total they had 10 UK number one singles seven of them were created when Robbie Williams was a member of the band. In 1995 the band splitted however in 2006 they came back with a new

single patience the band was reformed but this time without Robbie Williams.

A harmonic is a tone that s created by the guitar by touching the string above a fret on an open vibrating string. There are 2 types of harmonics Natural and Artificial or I prefer to call them pinch harmonics.

Natural Harmonics

Natural Harmonics can be produced by touching your index finger on your fret-hand above at the 5th, 7th or 12th fret. Just place your finger on the string above the fret, don t press to hard or you will mute the note, pluck the note and then pull your finger off. Try it on the A string.

While many of the industry’s critics speak against its lyrics, lewdness, loudness, and lack of values in video themes, industry advocates embrace the diversity hip-hop brings.

“Undeniably, hip-hop is one of the strongest tools by which we can reach a segment of our youth and demonstrate the ideals stated in our mission,” said James Ammons, chancellor of North Carolina Central University (NCCU). In addition to co-sponsoring the Hip Hop Music Summit with Atlantic Records,

the school offers a Hip-Hop 101 course taught by rap pioneer, Christopher “Play” Martin. Speaking to the initiative, Sharon Saunders, assistant to the chancellor for public relations at NCCU advised, “We wanted to have a discussion about rap, and whether it’s going in the right direction. Are there other ways to express ourselves in rap besides exploiting women and romanticizing crime?”

Lara started her career with a self-titled album, showing to the world that she is the essence of her own music. Her Pure album also contains the theme of honesty, pure music means honest music. Her English career also started with a self-titled album that contained a track called I am who I am . Lara stated that this would have been the title of the album if it wasn t self-titled. Being the person who she is and being true to herself means that her music will always portray honesty and integrity to her audience. Nue followed after her self-titled English album and in 2005 came an album entitled 9. 9 was the rebirth of Lara

s music, a process coming to full circle. Again you could witness her honesty and the purity of her music throughout this album. Now Lara is working on a multilingual album. Lara has always emphasised that music (and to me especially her music) is a universal language that can t be barred by language gaps. I believe that Lara will prove this philosophy with the release of her next album.
